Project Summary:
NASG Training and Implementation in Kilimanjaro Region
Last year, we successfully trained 84 healthcare providers across the Kilimanjaro region. The training reached over 31 health facilities, ranging from primary to tertiary levels, with a focus on all BeMOC and CeMOC facilities in the region.
As part of the initiative, we distributed over 120 Non-Pneumatic Anti-Shock Garments (NASG) to these facilities. The training covered essential topics, including the historical origins of NASG from World Wars I and II, its role in managing Obstetric Hemorrhage (both Antepartum and Postpartum), indications and contraindications, application techniques for both conscious and unconscious patients, stepwise removal, cleaning, and proper storage.
Monitoring and Evaluation for 2024 Project.
This year, in collaboration with Rotary International and the Rotary Club of Windsor, we will focus our resources on monitoring and evaluation of the project. Our primary objectives include:
• Conducting three site visits for retraining through Continuing Medical Education (CME) sessions.
• Implementing a low-dose, high-frequency training approach to reinforce knowledge and address gaps in NASG usage.
• Assessing how facilities store NASG and identifying areas for improvement.
• Collecting data through the KOBO Toolbox for further analysis and impact assessment.
Through these efforts, we aim to enhance the sustainability and effectiveness of NASG implementation, ensuring improved maternal health outcomes across the Kilimanjaro region.
